The Figure shows selected slices through the average T1 volume, and the Grey Matter (GM), White Matter (WM) and Cerebro-Spinal Fluid (CSF) probability maps computed over a sample of 662 subjects. Such maps constitute a probabilistic brain atlas in healthy elderly human subjects aged between 63 and 75 years. GM and WM atrophy, and CSF enlargement, are the most prominent features of these maps when compared with their counterparts in young healthy adults.
